Riviera Maya won the award for Best Destination in Mexico, granted by Travel Weekly at its 16th Readers Choice Awards.
The winners are divided into categories such as airlines, resorts, cruise lines, among others, and represent the best of the best in travel.
It is worth mentioning that Riviera Maya competed against major destinations within and outside of Mexico such as Cozumel, Cancún, Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, as well as Maui, Morocco, Florida, Hong Kong, and more. There were 57 nominated destinations and only 10 received the recognition at a gala held last December at a New York hotel. The award was received by Darío Flota Ocampo, general director of the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council.
These awards evaluate criteria such as service quality, innovation in experiences, and infrastructure, and are chosen by readers of the Travel Weekly magazine, specialized in travel and tourism.
