Los Cabos has natural protected areas that attract visitors and locals every year:

 

Cabo Pulmo National Park - Designated as a RAMSAR Site it holds a historical and cultural value for conserving archeological zones of the Pericúes, the old indigenous town that populated the region. It is also the natural habitat of a great number of species and give shelter to the visitor whales from November until the end of March every year.

 

Cabo San Lucas Protected Area - Of 9874 acres of extension, this reserve is inhabited by more than 1000 species of marine and terrestrial flora and fauna, including endangered or threatened species.

 

Sierra La Laguna Biosphere Reserve (UNESCO Heritage) - The unique ecosystems that inhabit this reserve represent a field of study for biologists and scientists, as well as an active source for aquifers.

 

Estuary Reserve of San José del Cabo - More than 150 species of birds, fish, aquatic mammals, turtles, among other species find its home in this beautiful estuary. It is considered among RAMSAR sites.

 

Activities

The activities that can be enjoyed in Los Cabos are many, indeed, thanks to the natural conditions of the zone:

 

Ecotourism – The mountain range of Sierra de la Giganta and the coastal flood plains provide countless options for holding activities at this paradise: from horseback riding, camping, hiking, climbing and rappelling, to mountain biking and therapeutic thermal waters.

 

The Arch of Cabo San Lucas - This iconic rock formation is visited year after year for its natural beauty, and due to the fact there is an underwater canyon nearby where a spectacular sand waterfall is produced in the depths of Sea od Cortez. It is in the process of being recognized as a "Natural Monument"

 

Golf

Los Cabos is considered one of the 15 best golf destinations in the world and counts with golf courses positioned within the TOP 100 world. More than 10 golf courses designed by specialists, including Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus.

 

Sport fishing

One of the most attractive destinations for the practice of sport fishing worldwide, named "The Mecca of the marlin" where important, international tournaments take place: Bisbee's Black & Blue tournament, the Rolex Gold Cup, the IGFA World Offshore Championship and the Los Cabos Billfish Classic International Game Fish Tournament among others. The species found along the Sea of Cortez waters are tuna, grouper, croaker, dorado, horse mackerel, bull mackerel, swordfish and, of course, blue and black marlin.

 

Tourist industry

In 2013 alone, 1.69 million of visitors arrived to Los Cabos, representing a very important economic flow. The Hospitality Industry –with 60% of all economic activity in Los Cabos (INEGI 2010 / SECTUR– brings this coastal destination live.
